Bacchus Bar and Bistro: Great Find That’s Easy To Miss

We dined as a guest of Bacchus

Wine Flights

Bacchus Bar and Bistro may be tucked away in a corner of Irvine’s Quail Hill Village Center but if you’re a wine lover, you won’t want to miss it. Perfect for a girls night out or date night, this wine bar and bistro offers an impressive list of over 350 wines, 60 of them by the glass, 12 wine flights, 12 craft beers on tap as well as 20 bottled micro-brews, and a bistro menu.

Though in a typical suburban shopping center surrounded by fast casual restaurants and a grocery store, venture in for a little wine therapy and it’s easy to forget your outside surroundings once inside this warm, casual yet still sophisticated open room. Perch yourself at the bar, in the corner nook, or at a table or high top in the large open room surrounded by racks and racks of wines and soak in the ambiance… it’s a place you’ll want to hang out in for awhile, especially if it’s a Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening when you can enjoy some live music.

Roasted Beet Salad With Arugula, Burrata Cheese, Truffle Vinaigrette, & Marcona Almonds

While wine is the primary focus, with limited space and equipment Chef Charity manages to churn out an impressive menu of casual light bites that will pair nicely with your wine selection including small plates, flatbreads, and salads plus sandwiches and burgers nightly, with a slightly scaled back menu for the lunch crowd.

Create Your Own Cheese and Cured Meat Board

Or for a simple light meal, few things in life are more enjoyable than a good wine accompanied by a cheese board along with cured meats. Create your own from their menu!

Tarragon Deviled Eggs

Spicy Gorgonzola Tater Tots

If you’ve been before but haven’t been back in awhile, now is a good time to check out their new additions to the lunch menu and the new happy hour menu which features items form $4 to $8. New items include: The Beef and Blue sandwich with roast beef, creamy gorgonzola, tomato, lettuce and caramelized onion on sourdough; The Shrimp BLT with bacon, brie and apricot jam on French bread; Spiced & Glazed Nuts; Chips & BBQ Jam; Spicy Gorgonzola Tater Tots; Tarragon Deviled Eggs, Chef’s Sandwich Special, and Today’s Flatbread.

While it’s hard to tell now, Bacchus was once mainly a wine store so before you leave you may decide you’d like to take home a bottle of the wine you just enjoyed to savor the next time you’re in need of a little therapy. Cheers!

Bacchus Bar & Bistro is located in the Quail Village Center in Irvine off of the Shady Canyon exit of the 405.
