Barbecue Bliss Marie Callender’s in Redding
After an active day hiking around the Lassen Volcanic National Park while on our summer road trip, we had worked up a huge appetite. We drove into the city of Redding where we checked into the Comfort Inn Hotel, and then walked next door to the local Marie Callender’s restaurant.
I had not eaten at a Marie Callender’s for many years and was excited to see what was new on their menu. The kids menu was larger than I had remembered and even featured barbecue ribs! My little meat lover, Ella, didn’t surprise me with her order of the ribs with my other two kids went with the macaroni and cheese.
While my kids ordered their favorite dishes from the kids menu, I was tempted by the delicious pictures of their barbecue specials. Since I had walked for miles around the National Park, I couldn’t resist ordering the large barbecue platter that clearly could have fed 2-3 people.
My meal began with a piece of their famous cornbread and a side salad. The warm corn bread melted in my mouth with every bite. While I was savoring the deliciousness of the corn bread, my kids shared the fresh, crisp salad with each other.
Clearly my eyes were bigger than my stomach when ordering the main course. My barbecue platter came with tri-tip, ribs, mashed potatoes, and more. Every bite of the food from the platter was incredibly delicious and left me wanting to return for more at the Marie Callender’s near our home.
With our stomached filled with delicious goodness, we walked back to our hotel where we had magical dreams of our day spent exploring the beautiful Lassen Volcanic National Park. While staying in Redding, the Marie Callender’s is a great place for your family to enjoy a filling and delicious dinner.
