Brunching at Fig & Olive

Posted by on Jan 20, 2015 in American, Breakfast, Featured, Reviews | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of Fig & Olive I love to Brunch.  I know it sounds so adult of me but in all honesty I have loved to Brunch for as long as I could remember.  There is something so perfect about the blending of breakfast and lunch.  Sitting back, enjoying a long mid-morning meal with friends and family, maybe even indulging in a Blood Mary or Mimosa while discussing important topics such as The Real Housewives of______ or who wore it best.   Ahhh Brunch but alas this had all became a memory once I had kids, so I thought.  This past weekend my son and I were invited to Brunch at Fig & Olive Newport Beach. That’s right people Fig & Olive has Brunch and we got a firsthand glimpse/taste of their French Riviera inspired Prix-Fixe Weekend...

The Waffle Affair Opens in Newport Beach

Posted by on Jan 3, 2015 in Breakfast, Coffee, Dessert, Dining News, Reviews | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of The Waffle Affair I’ve always been more of a waffle person than a pancake person. As a kid the only breakfast I really liked was waffles, especially with strawberries and whipped cream. I did not like pancakes and to this day am not a fan. I did not like eggs, though I love them now. But give me a waffle and make it crispy and I was a happy camper. Too bad I’m not a kid growing up in modern times when waffles seem to be all the rage in food. I would have loved to eat myself into oblivion at Newport Beach newcomer, The Waffle Affair without worrying about the consequences. And if you too are a waffle lover and fortunate enough to be in or around Newport Beach you can satisfy...

Pjs and Pancakes at Ruby’s Diner

Posted by on Oct 27, 2014 in Breakfast, Featured, Reviews | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of Ruby’s When the kids have a day off from school, our favorite thing to do is go for pj’s and pancakes. Right after the kids wake-up, I whisk them off to our favorite breakfast restaurant, Ruby’s Diner. Earlier this week, I surprised the kids even more by taking them to the newly redesigned Ruby’s Diner at 17th Street in Costa Mesa. The newly redesigned restaurant features a fun hip new vibe and faster service with their quick ordering process. When we arrived at Ruby’s Diner for breakfast, we placed our order at the counter before relaxing in one of their booths while watching “The Jetson’s” on the big screen television. The kids laughed at the highlights from the television show while building their paper classic cars to bring home as their souvenirs. We...

After a fun weekend exploring the city, our family got dressed up for Sunday brunch. The restaurant features exotic dishes with unique and intense flavors that will satisfy even the most discerning diners. The memorable decor made our family feel comfortable from the moment that we arrived at Faith & Flower. While our family shared our favorite moments from our Los Angeles staycation, I enjoyed sipping on a mimosa noir. The mimosa featured a champagne brut rose, Bigallet Amer China-China and fresh orange. It was a refreshing morning cocktail that I enjoyed throughout the morning. All of the dishes at Faith & Flower are designed to...

Brunching at Ways & Means Oyster House

Posted by on Jul 3, 2014 in Breakfast, Reviews | 0 comments

The Bar at Ways & Means Oyster House I am an oyster fan. Morning, noon or night, I don’t care what time of day or night it is I can eat them. Normally I can eat a dozen or so and honestly if that’s all I eat for a meal, I’m just perfectly happy with that. So, I was thrilled when I received two gift certificates for brunch to Ways & Means Oyster House in Orange, a restaurant I have had on my “to try list” since I read Shelby Barone’s review last November.  Iced Tea & Mango Mimosa  Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs  Littleneck Clam, Paradise Oyster, Naked Cowboy Oyster A couple of weeks ago, my dining partner in crime sister Shan and I donned our Sunday brunch best and headed up to Orange, certificates in hand. We arrived thirsty and...

First Time Dining at Denny’s

Posted by on Jun 16, 2014 in American, Breakfast, Reviews | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of Denny’s Denny’s has been around since I can remember, and I can’t believe it has taken me until my mid thirties to dine there for the first time. Growing-up my dad could never dine at a restaurant that had pictures of the food on the menu, so that was my parents whole justification behind us never dining there as kids. I drive past our local Denny’s two times a day while taking the kids back and forth to school, and I have always been curious about the food they serve. After a busy week with the kids, and back-to-school night ending late, we finally made the decision to stop into the diner for dinner on our way home. We walked into the quiet diner, and was seated at the back of the restaurant....

Breakfast at Bruxie

Posted by on Feb 19, 2014 in Breakfast, Coffee, Featured, Reviews | 0 comments

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and the Bruxie baristas are brewing an all-new bold blend of coffee for breakfast goers. The Bold Blend is now available at all six Bruxie locations, so we went for Breakfast at Bruxie earlier this week to sample their all-new coffee. Yes, I admit that I am a coffee snob, and only like high-quality coffee. I also like choices when it comes to my coffee. I order my coffee based off my mood, the weather, and what I am eating for breakfast. Bruxie was reading my mind when they decided to add a full-service barista service so I can order flavored lattes, cappuccino or espresso. Before ordering my favorite Bruxie breakfast waffles, I started with a cup of their new bold blend coffee. Since I wanted to get a...

Creating Holiday Memories at Whole Foods Newport Beach

Posted by on Dec 18, 2013 in Breakfast, Events, Featured, Holidays | 0 comments

The holidays are a time for creating memories with the special people in your life. One of my favorite memories as a young child was going to breakfast with Santa with my Grandfather. When I learned that Whole Foods Newport Beach was hosting a breakfast with Santa, I could not wait to start creating the same memories I shared with my Grandfather with my children. When we arrived, the very friendly Whole Foods staff welcomed us, and then guided us to our table. We then enjoyed some healthy pastry items that were available to us before breakfast. While savoring the flavors of our pastries and juice, each person got a personal visit from the store General Manager George Khoury. Mr. Khoury arrived at our table and welcomed us to his store and thanked us for coming to the...

Best Breakfast at The Orange Inn in Laguna Beach

Posted by on Sep 25, 2013 in Breakfast, Featured, Reviews | 0 comments

Where is the most popular breakfast joint for locals in Laguna Beach? At the Orange Inn! The Orange Inn has been serving the best breakfast in Laguna Beach since 1931. When planning our end of Summer staycation at the Pacific Edge Hotel, breakfast at the Orange Inn was #1 on our list of things to do. The restaurant is small and almost always has a line going out the door. Trust me when I tell you that it is worth every minute to wait in line for a table at the Orange Inn. Locals not only come to this popular restaurant for their delicious breakfast, baked treats and juices, but also for their amazing coffee. Some have said that they have “the best coffee in town,” and I cannot deny how fantastic it is. Our favorite breakfast dishes...

The Best Donuts in LA at Randy’s Donuts

Posted by on Sep 23, 2013 in Breakfast, Featured, Reviews | 0 comments

We cannot go into LA without making a stop at Randy’s Donuts. Right off the 405 freeway at Manchester is the giant donut that has been serving families in LA and Orange County for more than 60 years. Does the giant donut seem familiar to you? That is probably because of when it was featured in Iron Man 2. Tony Stark was seen eating a donut while reclining inside of the giant donut sign in the film. Randy’s Donuts has a 24 hour drive-thru, so no matter what time you drive into the historic donut shop, you’ll get a freshly made donut. The donuts are the best in LA, with the apple fritter being the best that I have ever had! The price is right with most donuts priced around a dollar, and there is a discount for...
