Dining Guide for Families in Orange County

Creating Culinary Memories at Roy’s Fashion Island

We dined as a guest of Roy’s

Roys3

Roy’s was the first “fancy” restaurant that my little foodie daughter, Ella, had dined at when she was just about two years old. We were dining with my parents for a special occasion, and I still remember her being mesmerized by the fish tank and being kept happy during dinner with their complimentary children’s plate. Almost ten years later I returned with her to Roy’s for a special Mother/Daughter dinner to have our two favorite foods, steak, and lobster!

Roy’s has recently introduced a limited-time surf and turf pre-fixe two-course menu for $32.95. The theme for the evening was lobster as we started with their popular Lobster potstickers. The potstickers were a little bite of heaven served with spicy Japanese miso butter sauce, and prepared with ginger, garlic, and Thai basil. We are still dreaming about how delicious this appetizer was, and can’t wait to return for more.

The main course entree included with the special menu consisted of a charred filet mignon with a coriander chimichurri sauce, and ginger glazed lobster tail. The steak came prepared perfectly cooked medium rare, and my daughter devoured every bite. Her steak was wonderfully complimented with a lobster tail that tasted just as fresh as lobster caught that morning in the waters surrounding Maine.

While my daughter would barely share a bite from her surf and turf, all my culinary desires were met while savoring the flavors of a giant lobster tail, lump crab cake and teppanyaki shrimp. The seafood dish was served with creamy jasmine rice and wasabi butter sauce. The dish was fresh, delicious and flavorful.

Once dinner was over, we walked over to Fashion Island where we ended the evening shopping at the different boutique stores. It was the perfect night that will live in our hearts forever.
