Darya 30th Anniversary in Orange County
Darya, the acclaimed restaurant at South Coast Plaza Village that serves refined Persian cuisine in an elegant setting, is marking its 30th anniversary this month with specials that will delight loyal guests and win over new fans.
In an industry where longevity is a hard-earned mark of all-around excellence, Darya (a girl’s name in Farsi that means “sea”) has shined for three decades as a sophisticated yet approachable venue that exemplifies dining as an experience, with family recipes that have created a large and dedicated following. The restaurant, which employs 40, seats 200 guests with an additional 75 capacity for upstairs private dining.
On Sunday, Nov. 13, Darya will close the restaurant and host a private party to thank neighbors, loyal clients, local VIPs and vendors for 30 years of support.
On Monday, Nov. 14, Darya will roll back prices at lunch and dinner for two of its most popular entrees: chelo beef kebab and boneless chicken kebab, both served with basmati rice and roasted tomato. Each will be $6.95 with the purchase of any beverage from 11:30 a.m-9:30 p.m. On the everyday menu, the price for chelo kebab, a skewer of juicy strips of charbroiled seasoned ground beef, is $16. The marinated charbroiled, boneless breast and leg of chicken is $21.
In 1986, Salute opened Darya with a partner at its original location in Orange and quickly won a following for authentic Persian recipes created in his own kitchen. Darya relocated to South Coast Plaza Village in 1996 at the invitation of business and cultural visionary, Henry Segerstrom, a fan of Darya’s Persian cuisine and hospitality. Salute’s former partner continues to operate Darya in Orange.
