Embracing Health and Seasonal Ingredients At Napa Rose

Posted by on Sep 21, 2015 in Disney, Events, Recipes | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue If you’re a Disneyland fan, and let’s face it, for the most part, who isn’t? And you enjoy challenging yourself by running marathons in your spare time… then Disneyland was the place to be September 1st through 4th as Cigna presented four days of running events culminating in a half marathon on Sunday on the grounds of the happiest place on earth. While I am no marathoner, I do love cooking demos. So when I was invited to participate in a four course cooking demo with Chef de Cuisine Chris Faulkner and Executive Pastry Chef Jorge Sotelo at Disney’s esteemed restaurant, Napa Rose, I hightailed it over there. About 40 bloggers and runners, including lucky me, were rotated through four cooking stations where we gained some insight into one of Napa...

Ariel’s Grotto “Under The Sea” Character Dining

Posted by on Jun 27, 2014 in Disney, Featured, Reviews | 0 comments

I had been waiting for a special occasion to take my girls to Ariel’s Grotto, the character dining experience inside Disney’s California Adventure Park.  It just so happened that their fifth and second birthdays (both falling in May) was the perfect occasion! Like many Southern California residents, we are Disneyland annual pass holders and visit the park quite regularly.  This was a wonderful way to make their birthday visit unique  from our other visits and something they won’t soon forget. Upon entering Ariel’s Grotto, you are ushered down a winding staircase to meet, who else but, Ariel! With the character dining experience, each girl gets a special time with each (of five) princesses. They can have their picture taken, autograph book signed, and chat a bit with the Disney characters so beloved by their little princess hearts. While the...

Posted by on Mar 25, 2014 in American, Best of OC, Disney, Featured, Reviews | 0 comments

Planning a trip to Disneyland? Wondering where the best place is to have lunch with your kids? The Jolly Holiday is our #1 top dining destination for lunch with our kids inside of the park. Why? #1 There is always plenty of seating in the large wrap around outdoor patio #2 There is plenty of space in-between the tables to easily roll the stroller up to your table in the event there is a sleeping kiddo during lunchtime. #3 The line moves quickly and the food comes out fast as lightning. We can be sitting at our table eating easily within 10-15 minutes of walking in the door. #5 The food is delicious..of course! The fun bright yellow restaurant with white trim is designed after the beloved Walt Disney Feature Film “Mary Poppins.” When your family first walks...

Creating the Food in Saving Mr. Banks

Posted by on Mar 18, 2014 in Disney, Featured | 0 comments

Mary Poppins was one of my favorite films as a child, and when I heard that the film Saving Mr. Banks was based on the making of Mary Poppins, I could not wait to see it. When watching the film for the first time, it brought tears to my eyes learning about how passionate Walt Disney was about fulfilling his promise to his daughter of turning the book into a motion picture movie. One of the things that stood out to me when watching Saving Mr. Banks was all the unique food. Every time that P.L. Travers’ would go to the Walt Disney Studios to work on the film, they would always bring in a cart load of food. All of the food in the film was realistic and looked just like it did in the 60’s. Earlier...

Posted by on Jan 4, 2014 in Disney, Featured, Recipes | 0 comments

Have you ever wondered how to make a traditional pozole? Many families will be preparing this traditional dish this weekend in celebration of Three Kings Day (Dia de los Reyes). Pozole is a stew that originated from Mexico and has ritual significance. It is made with pork, chicken or turkey along with a variety of spices. Pozole is currently being served until Monday at Disney California Adventure Park in celebration of the holiday. We had a unique opportunity to share how to make this recipe with Disneyland’s Chef Toby. Chef Toby offers a step-by-step guide on how to make this delicious stew for your family this weekend. The recipe is simple to make, and just requires a couple of hours to simmer while the flavors blend together. One tip that is not mentioned in the video is that...

Granola Bars That Saves the Lives of Children

Posted by on Nov 25, 2013 in Dining News, Disney, Featured | 0 comments

Image if every snack bar that your child eats would provide a meal to a child in need? Guess what? It can be possible with “This Bar Saves Lives.” While at the World Premiere, of the Disney film “Frozen” last week, Kristen Bell gave me a bar to take home and try with my kids. I’ll be honest that I get sent health bars all the time to try, and some of them my kids will eat, and some I could not pay them to eat. Since we have had so many disasters with dry and bland bars, my kids are not eager to eat them anymore. When I brought these bars with me to the park this afternoon for the kids snack, I told them about the meaning behind the bars. We sat on the picnic blanket...

Downtown Disney offers a wonderful selection of restaurants and entertainment.  We love strolling through the district after a day at Disneyland and California Adventure Parks…the live music pulls us in each and every time.  Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney recently held their Artful Open House adding to the appeal of this high energy locale. Combining art and food felt like heaven in the traditional French Quarter architecture found at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen. Guests enjoyed the open air and courtyard while surrounded by art and amazing food. Savory New Orleans cuisine was served as we enjoyed live jazz music and a tour of the five ‘Big Easy’ themed dining rooms that can be found at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney.  Food art was plentiful for us to enjoy both on our plates and throughout...

Best Pasta at Disneyland the Count-Down Chicken Fusilli

Posted by on Aug 21, 2013 in Disney, Italian, Reviews | 0 comments

We attended as guests of Disney. There is one reason why my family always eats at Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port in Tomorrowland during every visit we make to Disneyland. It is for the best pasta at Disneyland; the count-down chicken fusilli. This tantalizing creamy pasta cannot be found anywhere else. What makes this pasta so unique? It could be the perfectly grilled chicken, the garlic, the basil, or the parmesan cream sauce, but I believe there is a secret magic ingredient that makes it perfect. Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port is also one of our family favorite dining destinations in the park because of the relaxed, and casual environment. The restaurant is loud enough for kids to giggle, laugh about their day and even be a little silly without interfering with anyone else’s dining experience. There is plenty of tables...

The Best Irresistible Treat at Disneyland Resort

Posted by on Aug 20, 2013 in Best of OC, Disney, Reviews | 0 comments

We attended as guests of Disney Living in Orange County my entire life, I have grown-up creating special memories with my family at Disneyland Resort. I do, however, have a confession to make – that I have never had a Dole Whip. Shocking I agree, but my parents were very strict about sugar intake for my sister and I when we were children, so our visits to Disneyland never involved caramel apples, ice cream or the famous Dole Whip. It was not until I was visiting Walt Disney World, with my family this past Spring that my lips wrapped around the spoon of my first Dole Whip. After the Disney Social Media Moms Conference at Walt Disney World, we extended our family vacation at the Disney Polynesian Resort where we discovered a self-serve Dole Whip machine. The kids and...

Posted by on May 28, 2013 in Disney, Featured, Reviews | 0 comments

Disneyland is one of our favorite places splurge on delicious treats. With their mouth watering churros and what my husband calls the “best popcorn in Southern California,” Disneyland is heaven for a foodie family like mine. Recently when visiting Disneyland, we went to get one of our favorite Mickey pretzels, and discovered what we would find to be the best spicy treat at Disneyland – the jalapeño jack cheese filled pretzel! From the moment that my taste buds met the spicy melted cheese wrapped inside of a warm pretzel, I was in heaven. The warm cheese delighted my senses while enjoying a fun day at the park with my family. I tested out the spiciness of the pretzel with my youngest child who is not particularly fond of spicy foods, and it made him jump up and say,...

Dining at Animal Kingdom Restaurantosaurus

Posted by on May 10, 2013 in Disney, Featured, Travel | 0 comments

Shelby and I are here at Disney Social Media Moms this week with our families.  As you can imagine, a week at Walt Disney World  is a dream come true for our families. After a day of travel to get here, we caught up on sleep so the OC Mom Blog Kids keep up their stamina for this week of FUN and then took a vote on which park to visit first. The winner? Animal Kingdom! The children seemed to have a plan of their own and lead the way to Expedition Everest.  There must have been some Pixie Dust in the air because somehow all nine of us got on this ride. Height restrictions met and scare boundaries set aside, we did it. Once. Nine minus three equals six. 🙂   While Shelby, Ava and I enjoyed...

Disneyland understand this and really cares about the guests who visit their magical park. When I visited Disneyland last week I was excited to learn that they offer a gluten free hot dog bun at Award Wieners in Disney’s California Adventure Park. When you order a gluten free hot dog bun at Award Wieners they even bake the bun fresh for you. You will need to allow 10-15 minutes for them to bake your bun fresh at the time you place your order. Disneyland’s hot dog buns are made with tapiaco flour. They are also gluten free, wheat free, dairy free and low protein. You can also ask to speak with the chef of the restaurant to express any other dietary...
