Dining Guide for Families in Orange County

Get Cheesy at Elbow’s Macaroni and Cheese

We dined as a guest of Elbow’s

Do your kids love macaroni and cheese? What kid doesn’t? Fulfill all of their cheese cravings at Elbow’s Macaroni and Cheese in Brea. You’ll have a “cheesy” dining experience enjoying all of their unique macaroni and cheese creations at this fast-casual restaurant.

We started our dinner with their popular chipstix. These crispy fried potatoes come twisted around a long stick for your kids to dunk into ketchup and enjoy. It is a unique twist on french fries or potato chips.

Then we were in green bean bliss with their green bean fries. We may never eat a traditional french fry again after savoring every tasty bite of this side dish. The seasoned deep-fried green beans came with a side of ranch, and I guarantee that you’ll not just eat one.

Finally, before beginning our main course, we had the mac n’ cheese bites. These deep-fried bites are filled with creamy macaroni and cheese that was comforting and delicious.

Before diving into the macaroni and cheese, we gave the kids some vegetables with the chinese chicken salad. The salad was a traditional chinese chicken salad with mixed greens, green onions, carrots, mandarin oranges, grilled chicken breast, and topped with (my favorite) crispy wontons. The salad was tossed with a sweet oriental ginger dressing and was the perfect prelude to our main course.

When it comes to the mac n’ cheese, your family can order multiple dishes and enjoy dinner family style or order your own smaller portioned dishes. There is multi-grain option for $1 and gluten-free option for $2 in addition to the regular prices.

My daughter’s favorite was the Easy Cheesy Caprese. The warm mac n’ cheese came mixed with roasted tomatoes, fresh garlic and basil with creamy mozzarella and parmesan.

In the mood for a little spice in your life? The Living Fajita Loca is made with Southwestern flavors including a sharp cheddar and pepper jack cheese. The dish is topped with fire roasted peppers, grilled onions and the option to add chicken, steak or shrimp for an additional fee. This southwestern macaroni and cheese are perfect for the kids who like a little spice in their life.

If your kids like buffalo wings then the “Wingin’ It” mac n’ cheese is for them. The mac n’ cheese is made with sharp cheddar cheese, buffalo wing sauce and topped with boneless chicken, crumbled blue cheese and scallions.

Or just chill out with the “Chillin’ Out” cheddar mac n’ cheese. It comes topped with homemade chili, sour cream and scallions. This mac n’ cheese is the perfect comfort dish to enjoy once we finally get some cooler weather here in the OC.

Pizza lovers will unite with the “Do You Want a Pizza Me” mac n’ cheese. The dish is made with mozzarella cheese, Italian herbs, spices and marinara sauce. It comes topped with crispy slices of pepperoni or mixed vegetables.

Bacon and mac n’ cheese is a perfect combination with the “When Pigs Fly” mac n’ Cheese. The dish is made with swiss and gruyere cheese with huge pieces of smoked bacon. This dish was the top pick with our kids during dinner, so don’t leave without trying a bite!

Our meal was complete with the grilled cheese and Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The cheesesteak sandwich was made with steak, onions, peppers and provolone and American cheese.

Just when we thought it could not get any better, we ended our meal with beignets. The sweet treat was fried to perfection and dusted with powdered sugar. It was perfectly paired with warm melted salted chocolate.
