Dining Guide for Families in Orange County

Kid-friendly Plant-based Menu at Project Juice

We dined as a guest of Project Juice

Watching my picky eater eat an entire raw spiced lentil wrap made me overwhelmed with joy. My two older children are always up for an epicurean adventure, but then there is always my youngest “picky eater” who is always resistant to trying new foods – especially healthy foods. Last week, I took all three of my kids into the Project Juice in Laguna Beach to sample their all-new plant-based food menu. I was shocked to see that it was my picky eater who devoured almost every raw dish prepared for lunch.

We started our lunch with a refreshing watermelon berry juice mixed with sparkling water. It was made with organic, cold-pressed watermelon, strawberries, young coconut water, green apple, and lime. It was the perfect summer drink to enjoy on a warm summer afternoon.

My absolute favorite menu item was the kelp noodle pad thai. It was made with marinated kelp noodles, cabbage, carrots, red bell pepper, lime, green onion, and Thai almond sauce. It was my first time trying kelp noodles, and it was love at first bite. The secret to getting my kids to eat it was by not telling them it was kelp noodles. I didn’t mention to my youngest exactly what it was that he was eating, and he did not question its deliciousness for a moment.

While I loved the kelp noodles, it was the spiced lentil wrap that was my kids’ favorite. Wrapped inside of raw sprouted wrap were spiced lentils, ume onion, cashew-turmeric aioli, spinach, green cabbage, and carrots. The wrap was filling and packed full of nutrients that are beneficial to my kids growth.

Paired with the wrap was a superfood falafel salad. The salad was light, flavorful and delicious. It featured romaine, kale, garbanzo beans, cherry tomatoes, Persian cucumbers, red onion, parsley, hemp seeds, falafel balls, and a lemon tahini dressing.

Finally, we ended our lunch with a sweet coconut cashew crepe. Inside of the coconut paleo wrap was cashew creme paired with fresh blueberries. I guarantee that you can’t eat just one!

Before leaving Project Juice, the kids sampled some of their different smoothies and juices that are all made with organic fruits and vegetables (which is important when picking a juice shop to bring your kids too).

All of these dishes that we sampled are available in to-go containers at the Project Juice in Laguna Beach. When heading home from a day at the beach, stop by Project Juice to pick-up a couple of dishes to bring home for dinner.

Project Juice is located at 1100 S Coast Highway in Laguna Beach.
