Dining Guide for Families in Orange County

Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que New Southern Summer Meals

We dined as a guest of Lucille’s

When we are not grilling our favorite meat on our backyard bbq, we are seeking out the best bbq in Orange County. Lucille’s is one of my favorite places to get bbq in the OC, and they recently introduced a new fresh southern summer menu, that is going to have your family begging to come back for more.

Lucille’s used their authentic Southern flavors when creating these limited-time specials. Our favorite new addition to their menu for the summer is the BBQ Chicken Lettuce Wraps. It’s not something that we would normally expect to see on the menu at Lucille’s, but the southern twist that they have made on dish is “out of this world.” The appetizer is large enough to be a meal in itself with grilled chicken, butter lettuce, corn salsa, black bean relish, cheddar cheese, sweet slaw, julienne carrots and cucumbers. It is served with Lucille’s BBQ and our favorite – the spicy ranch dressing. Your kids can get creative combining the different fresh ingredients inside of their own personal lettuce cup.

The pastrami sandwich was a hit with my kids. They combined house-cured and smoked tri tip pastrami to create an explosion of different flavors with the sandwich. On top of the pastrami is melted swiss cheese, Creole mustards, sliced pickles and creamy coleslaw inside of a grilled pretzel bun. The dish is served surrounded with crunchy potato chips, and you won’t be able to eat just one! Even my little picky eater could not get enough of this delicious sandwich – it’s that good.

Nothing says bbq more than burnt ends, and I was thrilled to see a bbq rib and burnt ends platter on the new summer menu. The dish comes with a half rack of ribs and brisket burnt ends served with your favorite Lucille’s side dishes. The meat just falls off the bones of the ribs and there is plenty of food to be able to share this dish with your kids.

Finally, we tried the Cajun Skirt Steak with Jumbo Gulf Prawns. The dish comes with a large helping of buttery grits topped with a corn succotash and a large helping of jumbo gulf prawns. The shrimp boasted bold flavors while the skirt steak was tender and juicy.

A trip to Lucille’s would not be complete without a cup of their banana pudding. The sweet creamy pudding comes topped with fluffy whipped cream and an aromatic mint leave. It is the perfect ending to a summer dinner at Lucille’s.

Don’t let summer pass by without planning a visit to your local Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-b-Que to try one of their fresh and delicious new summer menu items. Find your closest Lucille’s online.
