Not Your Average Waffle at A Waffle Affair

We dined as a guest of the venue

A Waffle Affair in Newport Beach has a unique variety of amazing waffles; we were thrilled to be invited to taste some of their popular items.

When we first walked in, we noticed the inside of the restaurant is very chic. A beautiful crystal chandelier hangs above a tall table, and all white booths and tables line the walls.

When you first walk in you will order from the counter in front of you. When looking at the menu it was hard to choose what I wanted to try. They have over 21 varieties of waffles. Some waffles are sweet while others are savory. Lucky for me I was handed a tasting menu that had a little bit of everything.

First up was the Hot Dog – Bits And Dip. It came with maple syrup, and spicy mayo dip. I thought it was an adorable dish. They are little bite-sized waffles of pure savory goodness, plus I loved that they had little hot dogs inside. I would never have thought that was a good idea, but let me tell you. They were my favorite out of everything. I was surprised since I am normally a sweet, loving girl.

The next plate to come out featured their Prosciutto And Gruyere waffle and the Turkey And Havarti. These were both hot and creamy but had the crunch of the waffle. I enjoyed them dipped in the Dijon Mustard that comes with them.

After we had been done tasting the savory selections, we were introduced to some glazed bites and cinnamon sugar bites. These were just the right amount of sweetness for my taste buds. I love how hot and fresh they all come out because they are all made from scratch at the time of ordering.

Another waffle we tried was the Carrot Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting. It was sweet, but not too sweet. I also enjoyed the Coconut Waffle while my husbands favorite the Chocolate Chip waffles.
They recommend trying their waffles without toppings, but you can request things such as chocolate, berries and even homemade creams.

A Waffle Affair also features some great illy’s coffee and imported Damman teas.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to A Waffle Affair and thought you will too.

They are located at 1064 Bayside Dr. Newport Beach. The hours are Monday-Sunday 7 am to 5 pm. They are open for plenty of time to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I should also say that they do have other foods such as salads and a great Fruit And Yogurt Parfait that my son loved.
