Picturesque Dining at Casa Mia in Loreto Mexico

We dined as a guest of the resort

When first arriving at the Villa del Palmar Resort at the Islands of Loreto I first had lunch at Casa Mia Restaurant. The open-air restaurant featured incredible panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez and the resorts turtle shaped swimming pool. All of the tables surround a circular bar and wood fired oven where they make some of the best homemade pizza in Mexico.

I started my lunch with a colorful cocktail that was not too sweet and the perfect refreshment after the flight from Los Angeles. The cocktail was paired to perfection with a plate of freshly made guacamole, salsa and tortilla chips. While I would have never thought to order a plate of chicken wings in Mexico, I was surprised to find out how flavorful they ended up being.

When my eyes first spotted the outdoor wood oven, I could not wait to sink my taste buds into a fresh hand tossed pizza. The dough came out crispy on the bottom and soft on the edges…just the way I like it. It was topped with fresh vegetables and a variety of diced meats. I enjoyed the pizza so much that I returned for lunch a second time during my stay for more of their pizza.

Finally, my favorite..the tacos! They served a plate of beef and shrimp tacos with the shrimp tacos being the best that I’ve ever had in Mexico. The season grilled shrimp came wrapped in a warm handmade flour tortilla that I topped with guacamole and pico de gallo. I can’t wait to return to Loreto just to have more of these life-changing tacos.

After lunch, I took a walk along the beach before retreating to my room for the weekend. It is not just the food and the unparalleled ocean views that make Casa Mia special but also the hospitality of the staff. The staff at the restaurant and throughout the resort plays the biggest part in making the Villa del Palmar Resort at the Islands of Loreto one of the most sought after family travel destinations in Mexico.

The Casa Mia restaurant is open daily at the resort from 11am to 10:30pm. After making your reservations to stay at the Villa del Mar Resort at the Islands of Loreto make plans to have lunch at Casa Mia, and don’t forget to order a plate of their shrimp tacos!
