Dining Guide for Families in Orange County

Shooby Dooby Down to Ruby’s for Marianne’s Ice Cream

We dined as a guest of Ruby’s

Ruby’s Diner is one of the best places to cool down from the summer sun with a delicious dessert. When we got news that three Ruby’s locations were serving Marianne’s ice cream, we could not wait to plan a visit.

Marianne’s ice cream first started in Santa Cruz in 1947. The founder, Tom Becker, named the popular ice cream parlor after his two daughter Mary and Anne. Marianne’s is still located at 1020 Ocean Street in Santa Cruz and is one of the best ice creams to be found in California.

Guests can enjoy Marianne’s ice cream at the three select Ruby’s Diner locations (Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach). Guests can select from a variety of flavors and specialty ice cream treats.

After a fun day playing at the beach in Laguna with the kids, I surprised them by stopping at the Laguna Beach location for some Marianne’s Ice Cream. The kids were beyond thrilled, and could not wait to try the ice cream that they’ve heard so much about.

We ordered some chicken strips and fries to share along with a hot fudge sundae and banana split. We were able to select our favorite Marianne’s ice cream flavor to go in the hot fudge sundae that they topped with hot fudge (no almonds because of a nut allergy), whipped cream and a cherry on top. It was the richest and creamiest sundae that I have had in years, and we got to enjoy it while basking in the beautiful ocean views from the rooftop dining area.

While the hot fudge sundae was my favorite, the kids loved the banana split. It came with vanilla bean ice cream with pineapple topping, strawberry ice cream with strawberry topping and chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce topping. It kept getting better with the whipped cream and cherry on top. My kids were in true bliss.

Your kids have not had ice cream until having a taste Marianne’s Ice Cream. We are so lucky that families can get this popular ice cream brand right here in the OC at select Ruby’s Diner locations.

Have fun with your kids creating special memories together over a hot fudge sundae or banana split. We dined at the Ruby’s Diner on PCH in Laguna Beach. They are located at 30622 E Pacific Coast Highway.

Families can also get the delicious sweet summer treat at the HB Pier and 17th Street location in Costa Mesa.
