Burntzilla: Two Food Trucks Collide and make a Home in Irvine

Posted by on Jul 8, 2015 in American, Asian, Best of OC, Reviews, Uncategorized | 0 comments

We dined as a guest I love truck food.  Where else can you try the most amazing gourmet food at half the cost?  I have never been into the food truck culture of waiting for hours in line or following their every move on my phone, which means I miss out on a lot of good food.   If there is an event and I happen to be there I try every truck out knowing that it will be a long time before my next feast.  Now if I were a genie of sorts, I would create a situation where food trucks would have stationary home and I could go there whenever I wanted to feast in their magic.  Abracadabra Kalamazam may I present to you Burntzilla!!! Located in a strip mall on the corner of Culver and Walnut in...

Bruxie’s Kickin’ Buffalo Chicken Menu

Posted by on Feb 26, 2015 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of Bruxie My family and I love Bruxie! Last weekend, we were invited to try their new Kickin’ Buffalo Chicken items. My teenage son had the Bruxie Buffalo Bleu Sandwich – with the chicken smothered in buffalo sauce, and topped with crispy slaw and crumbled bleu cheese. The chicken was juicy and tender, and the waffle very light and crispy. I had a bite of it too, and as the manager recommended, this item was the tastiest of the three! We shared the Buffalo Chicken Tenders – served on a bed of their signature waffle fries, with a side of slaw and bleu cheese dipping sauce. Four big tender pieces of chicken, all nice and hot, with the fries and their chunky slaw makes a good-sized meal. I had the Kickin’ Chicken Salad –...

Los Angeles Hidden Gem: The Stocking Frame

Posted by on Feb 9, 2015 in Featured, Reviews, Uncategorized | 0 comments

My sister, Shan and I love going up to L.A. Especially when there’s potential for a great meal to be had. It’s a neverending quest. Not that there’s any shortage of great food in L.A. but finding it where you want it, when you want it, isn’t always easy in a spread out city like L.A. when you’re an outsider. Case in point, we’ve found ourselves on more than one occasion trying to find that elusive great place that’s somewhat relaxed, close to USC where my niece Madi is attending college, with food that’s tasty and casual yet creative… and we have struggled. This is a problem! When we go out, Madi expects us to have our plan nailed down. We have years of great memories dining around L.A. We are her food people and the bar has...

Bacchus Bar & Bistro… From Wine Store to Wine Bar

Posted by on Nov 14, 2014 in Reviews, Uncategorized, Wine Bars and Bistros | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of Bacchus I am all about outdoor dining, but once it starts getting dark before 5:00 I start craving a darker warm, cozy atmosphere to meet friends for a few bites and enjoy a glass of wine. My friend Janice and I have discovered a perfect place to do just that… Bacchus Bar and Bistro in Quail Hill Shopping Center in Irvine. Though I have been to Quail Hill many times I never realized there is a wine bar tucked into the corner. It’s been there for years. How could I have missed it? Well, to be fair until more recently it was a wine store with a space for wine tasting. Now though it has been completely redesigned into a warm, casually elegant wine bar, lounge and bistro. And under the management of...

Celebrating Back-to-School at French’s Pastry

Posted by on Sep 8, 2014 in Bakery, Reviews, Uncategorized | 0 comments

It has been a tradition since I was a child to visit to French’s Pastry for a special back-to-school treat. After all the pressures of meeting new friends, getting settled in a new classroom and adjusting to the new schedule, my mom would always take me to French’s for my favorite sweet treat. Now that I am a mom, I share this tradition with my children. After a busy first week of school, the kids got released early on Friday, and I took them to French’s Pastry. They still act surprised when I pull into the parking lot after all these years of taking them to the bakery at the beginning of the school year. This year was extra special because thanks to Groupon, the kids were able to get $30 worth of treats to enjoy throughout the...
