Dining Guide for Families in Orange County

Raw Food, and Some Raw Fun Too!

Posted by on Mar 19, 2016 in Reviews, Vegetarian | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue On the busy little corner of Ventura Blvd in Tarzana, a new restaurant with a fresh new vibe is happening. Original décor with fresh woods and grass layered bench seating, both indoor and out, creates an amoebic feeling and right away you know you’re in for something adventurous. 118° LA was going to show a couple Moms how raw food is done. So, girl’s night it was! I grabbed a friend who loves a healthy and organic meal as much as the next and we were out to find something new and audacious. Eating organic wasn’t new for us, but we were a bit nervous about never really eating anything besides carrot sticks and cucumbers raw. As we arrived we started with a cocktail, because, after all it was “Mom’s night...

Kid-friendly Plant-based Menu at Project Juice

Posted by on Aug 27, 2015 in Featured, Gluten-Free, Reviews, Vegetarian | 1 comment

We dined as a guest of Project Juice Watching my picky eater eat an entire raw spiced lentil wrap made me overwhelmed with joy. My two older children are always up for an epicurean adventure, but then there is always my youngest “picky eater” who is always resistant to trying new foods – especially healthy foods. Last week, I took all three of my kids into the Project Juice in Laguna Beach to sample their all-new plant-based food menu. I was shocked to see that it was my picky eater who devoured almost every raw dish prepared for lunch. We started our lunch with a refreshing watermelon berry juice mixed with sparkling water. It was made with organic, cold-pressed watermelon, strawberries, young coconut water, green apple, and lime. It was the perfect summer drink to enjoy on a warm...

Veggie Grill Irresistible Fall Menu Items

Posted by on Dec 9, 2014 in American, Featured, Reviews, Vegetarian | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of Veggie Grill At least a couple of times a week, I find myself stopping into Veggie Grill for a salad during lunch – so often that I know the servers by name. I swear that they have the best caesar salad in Orange County, and I could eat it every single day of the week. While I (like many other Veggie Grill fans) often find ourselves committed to our menu favorites, earlier this month I gave up my beloved caesar salad to explore something new on the Fall menu. The new Fall menu at Veggie Grill is one to seek after on those rare rainy days that we have in the OC. My top two favorite menu items are the butternut velvet soup and the Sonoran winter bowl. Both of these dishes boast...

We attended as a guest of Veggie Grill We were invited to the grand opening of Veggie Grill’s newest location at the Irvine Market Place.  When we arrived, a line of eager patrons were wrapped around the building. Who wouldn’t want to eat healthy, great tasting food and with their new summer menu you have so many more amazing choices.  I have to say that this new menu is my favorite to date and I highly recommend you checking it out. I knew what was in store for me so I invited my fellow OC Mom, Chantile to join me for an amazing time.  She hadn’t been to Veggie Grill before but after our visit she became the newest convert.    Once you try it, you get hooked.  Again tasty, healthy, organic meals all made fresh to order – how...

Veggie Grill – Eat out, Eat Healthy

Posted by on Jun 12, 2014 in Featured, Reviews, Vegetarian | 0 comments

My first experience at Veggie Grill was exactly one week before I was given the opportunity to taste their new menu. My best friend and his wife are Veggie Grill super fans and insisted we meet there for lunch. My friend was really excited to introduce me to their concept, 100% plant-based soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches and desserts. Now don’t stop reading because you think that this isn’t for you, trust me I wasn’t all that excited about trying them out but I did and that is why I asked to be the one to review them. At my first visit I had their B-Wing Salad: chopped romaine, avocado, celery, roasted corn salsa, creamy ranch dressing topped with their tasty “Buffalo Wings”. Why is “Buffalo Wings” in quotes, well it tastes like real buffalo chicken but instead it’s...

Kid-Friendly Indian Cuisine at Adya

Posted by on Jun 10, 2014 in Featured, Reviews, Vegetarian | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of Adya Getting kids to eat Indian food is a challenge that many families come across. Not all kids have a palate that can handle a lot of spices and flavors, and I know with having my youngest being a super picky eater. It’s not any fun to bring the kids out to eat, and all they will eat is the Naan, and then having to cook them a second dinner when arriving at home. When I heard that Adya was opening in the Anaheim Packing District, and serving Indian “street food,” I was curious to see if it would be an Indian restaurant that we could bring our children to enjoy. We started off our meal with some Malai Tikka, Lamb Shish Kabobs and Tandoori Shrimp. The starters reminded me a lot of...

All of the food at Sol Cocina has always been prepared using the freshest and sustainable ingredients. “There is this misconception that flavorful Mexican food can be unhealthy and limited to those who do not have dietary restrictions, and this could not be farther from the truth,” commented Chef Deb, who revealed that her menu items at SOL focus on the season’s freshest offerings. “Great flavor comes from great ingredients, and many are just as bold and satisfying without dairy or meat. The separate menu highlighting options stems from a sense of responsibility and commitment we feel to our guests – and the...

Veggie Grill New Winter Menu

Posted by on Nov 25, 2013 in Dining News, Featured, Reviews, Vegetarian | 0 comments

Veggie Grill is one of my favorite places to get a Kale salad. I always find myself ordering either the All Hail Kale or Savory Kale Salad when dining at Veggie Grill. This coming Wednesday, November 27th, Veggie Grill will begin serving some savory all-new winter dishes. We went to Veggie Grill this morning, to try the new Winter Menu, and to share what you’ll not want to miss eating when dining at Veggie Grill this Winter. My favorite addition to the new menu is their bowls. They are large, full of vegetables, and the best part – they come topped with my ultimate favorite hemp seeds. My all-time favorite bowl was the gluten-free Bombay Bowl. This dish has a little kick with its cilantro curry sauce with coconut milk. The dish has a large amount of herb-roasted...

From Farm to Table at Tanaka Farms with Tree Top

Posted by on May 17, 2013 in Events, Farmer's Markets, Featured, Vegetarian | 0 comments

Dining out is something we enjoy a great deal as a family.  While we think that dining out means a restaurant experience, today we want to share a non-traditional way to dine out with your family that allows you to teach your children about the food they eat. Shelby and I had the pleasure of attending an educational event with Tree Top earlier this month that was centered around Tanaka Farms.  It was an engaging and fun experience that inspired me as a mom and as a healthy women.  It is an experience I will share in turn share with our children to help them better understand where food truly comes from and the importance of a healthy and clean diet. Tanaka Farms is a local gem to us here in Orange County situated in the heart of...
