The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar has announced it will be opening its third Southern California location in San Diego’s Westfield UTC, an upscale outdoor mall in La Jolla in Fall 2017. The Winery Restaurant La Jolla will provide the same rich experience as its Orange County locations at The District in Tustin and overlooking the marina in Newport Beach. The Winery will also open a separate 1,000-square-foot wine bar within Westfield UTC, featuring a menu of small bites, grab-and-go foods and wine flights for guests and employees of the center to enjoy.

Over the past decade, Partners JC Clow, William Lewis and Chef Yvon Goetz have created quite a stir by successfully pairing contemporary California regional cuisine, with a hip, vibrant, sophisticated setting, to create a cutting-edge dining experience. They have been recipients of many awards and honors, including “Restaurant of the Year” by media outlets and independent organizations, alike.

The restaurant menu will focus on contemporary California regional cuisine at its finest, with Executive Chef & Partner Yvon Goetz directing a team that delivers a culinary experience straight from the Wine Country. He is considered one of the most highly decorated chefs in Southern California, having been called “Alsace’s gift to Southern California” by the Los Angeles Times. He began professional training in his hometown of Strasbourg, France, after which he spent several years in some of the most prestigious Michelin Starred kitchens in England, including Relais & Chateaux Chewton Glen Hotel, Hambleton Hall and London’s Dorchester Hotel, under Chef Anton Mosimann. Years later, he returned to Strasbourg to work under Chef Emile Jung at the famed Michelin three-star Le Crocodile. In 1991, Goetz left his native land to join The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Group, which led him to stints in Boston and Aspen, before eventually finding a home at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. He spent the next ten years establishing the hotel’s Dining Room into one of Southern California’s culinary gems and earning a 5-Diamond Award, before opening The Winery Restaurant. At The Winery La Jolla, Chef Goetz’s menu will feature wild game and USDA Prime steaks, as well as Pacific Rim flavorings, such as fresh line-caught Opah, Mong Chong, Ono & Mahi Mahi flown in daily from Hawaii. Tying the expansive wine list into the menu, Chef Goetz will feature numerous wine-infused ingredients into many of his signature dishes.
