You’re Invited: Memphis Cafe Backyard BBQ
The Memphis Group is pleased to announce that Memphis Café will celebrate 20 years of food, community and culture this fall. The Costa Mesa staple eatery will host a signature backyard BBQ with live bands and DJs performing from 4pm until closing on Sunday, September 6.
Memphis Café has served Costa Mesa as a neighborhood mainstay in the heart of the SOBECA district since 1995. Soon after opening, Memphis Café received a “5 star” review from LA Times restaurant critic, Irene Virbilla and has continued to earn critical acclaim and a loyal following ever since. Classically trained chef and co-founder Diego Velasco created a distinctive gourmet interpretation of Southern home-style cooking with signature dishes that have made the establishment a permanent staple in the local food community.
The roadhouse style bar is a destination for both classic cocktails and curated beer and wine lists as well as a long list of resident artists and DJs.
Sunday, September 6 will be a true celebration in Memphis Café’s signature style. The restaurant will be open to the public for brunch and then close for a VIP Backyard BBQ with Chef Velasco serving up smoked brisket, beer butt chicken, barbecued head on prawns, Mexican street style corn on the cob, watermelon salad, black-eyed pea salad, and the traditional cornbread that Memphis is known for. The event will feature performances by Barstow Boyz, Church of Son, The Measles, Todd Oliver Quartet, Dan Forte, DJ Danny Love, DJ BB Guns (Lil Brandon) and other special guest DJs and Memphis Café performance alumni.
Memphis Café is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner with late-night entertainment Thursdays through Saturdays. Complimentary valet parking is available Thursday through Saturday nights.
