Dining Guide for Families in Orange County

Bugaloo’s Conch Crawl in the Turks and Caicos

The last time we visited the Turks and Caicos we never left the resort. During our recent trip, we wanted to make sure and visit different places on the island like Bugaloo’s Conch Crawl. It is one of the top dining destinations for the locals especially on the nights when they have live music.

The only downside to dining at Bugaloo’s is the high cab fair. Our resort called a cab to take us to the restaurant only about 3-4 miles away, and the cab was $80 round-trip. After spending some time on the island, we learned that we could have traveled a little cheaper (although not as safe) by using a jitney to take us to the restaurant. A jitney is similar to the Uber service in the states, but a lot of the resorts encourage visitors not to use it for transportation.

When we arrived at Bugaloo’s there was cages of bunnies, stray dogs and a small pond with baby sharks swimming. The building on the inside reminded me a lot of the coffee shop in the film “50 First Dates.”

We were seated on their outdoor patio overlooking the water. While we were waiting for our drinks, the kids and I walked next door to visit a small outdoor shop and day spa. We talked with the locals, and it was a great start to our evening.

We started the evening with their most popular item on the menu – the coconut cracked conch. The dish featured battered deep fried conch with their tasty secret dipping sauce. My husband and I have been craving more of this unique dish, and it might be the reason for us to return again to the Turks and Caicos.

For the main course, the kids all had hamburgers while my husband and I had the lobster. The lobster had the freshness of being caught that morning. It was cooked to perfection and was one of our favorite meals on the trip.

While we were eating dinner, the owner of the restaurant took the time to talk to us. While we were talking the kids played with the dogs and ran around the beach. The restaurants has a very relaxed feel that is perfect for families to dine without any stress.

When planning your visit to the Turks and Caicos I highly recommend dining at Bugaloo’s Conch Crawl, and don’t leave without ordering some coconut cracked conch. Bugaloo’s is located on Providencials in the Turks and Caicos.
