Dining Guide for Families in Orange County

First Time Dining at Denny’s

We dined as a guest of Denny’s

Denny’s has been around since I can remember, and I can’t believe it has taken me until my mid thirties to dine there for the first time. Growing-up my dad could never dine at a restaurant that had pictures of the food on the menu, so that was my parents whole justification behind us never dining there as kids.

I drive past our local Denny’s two times a day while taking the kids back and forth to school, and I have always been curious about the food they serve. After a busy week with the kids, and back-to-school night ending late, we finally made the decision to stop into the diner for dinner on our way home.

We walked into the quiet diner, and was seated at the back of the restaurant. The kids were given a great National Geographic kids menu, and my husband and I got a huge menu to explore.

I was immediately impressed with the service. The service was beyond incredible with the server keeping our glasses full, and always checking on us throughout the meal.

I can never resist a plate of mozzarella sticks, so when we were asked if we wanted to start our meal with an appetizer, we could not resist saying “no.” The deep fried cheese sticks were so delicious that we ended up ordering two dishes to share with our kids.

When it came time to order, we could not decide between breakfast or dinner (They serve breakfast all-day long).

My husband ended up getting a giant breakfast dish that was large enough for my entire family to share. It came with bacon, sausage, potatoes, toast and pancakes – breakfast paradise.

While my husband opted for breakfast, I tried their Superbird Sandwich. Inside of crispy grilled toast was turkey, melted cheese and avocado. The ultimate comfort food sandwich.

The kiddos ordered traditional kids meals off the interactive National Geographic menu. The menu kept the kids entertained throughout the entire dinner, and they had fun learning about the different animals.

I quickly learned that families don’t go to Denny’s for a healthy meal, but to indulge in their favorite comfort foods. It is not somewhere that I would recommend dining on a regular basis, but fun to try on occasion with your family.

There are Denny’s located throughout Orange County, and we dined at the Mission Viejo location at 24445 Alicia Pkwy.
